What each box does

| Text at the start | This text goes in front of every line. Type - to make a list, or " to open a quote. |
| Text at the end | This text goes after every line. Type , to end each line with a comma, or ", to close a quote and add a comma. |
| Leave blank lines alone | Empty lines stay empty and get nothing added. Untick it to add the text to them too. |
| Put a number in front | Adds 1. 2. 3. at the very start of each line. Blank lines that are left alone are not counted. |
Add text to each line without a tool
In Google Sheets, put your lines in column A, then type ="text "&A1 in B1 and drag it down. In Notepad++ or VS Code, use find and replace with regular expressions on: find ^ and replace with your text to add at the start, or find $ to add at the end. This page is for when you just want to paste, type and copy.
Is my text private?
Yes. The tool is one readable script, tool.js (no libraries), which works only on what is in the box. It makes no network requests and stores nothing; you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it keeps working. Separately, the page sends one cookie-free page view count when it loads (the page address and the referring site, never your text; see privacy).

Copying text out of a document and back loses its headings, bold and links.
