What a good slug looks like
| Rule | What this tool does |
|---|---|
| Letters and digits only | Symbols and punctuation are dropped. Tips & Tricks! becomes tips-tricks. |
| Accents | On by default: Crème Brûlée becomes creme-brulee. Untick it to keep the letters as typed. |
| Apostrophes | Removed, not turned into a dash: don't becomes dont. |
| Length | The limit cuts at a whole word, never in the middle of one. |
| Other alphabets | Letters from other alphabets are kept, for example Greek or Cyrillic. Only the accents on Latin letters are removed. |
Example: How to Bake Crème Brûlée at Home! becomes how-to-bake-creme-brulee-at-home. With small words dropped: bake-creme-brulee-home.
Is my text private?
Yes. The tool is one readable script, tool.js (no libraries), which works only on what is in the box. It makes no network requests and stores nothing. Separately, the page sends one cookie-free page view count when it loads (the page address and the referring site, never your text).
